For those who are uncertain,
a message from the AHC Administrators

For most women, pregnancy is a time of joy and anticipation of a new life; but for some, the news is not good. Have you received a poor prenatal diagnosis? Have you learned that the wonderful life you thought you were going to be bringing home has a serious or fatal condition?

We understand that what you are going through right now is tremendously difficult. We are so very sorry that you have any reason to be here. Until you decide which course of action is right for you, it is best to seek the advise from professionals. Check with your doctors, genetic counselors or therapists to get the most up-to-date information regarding your child’s specific diagnosis. If your religious beliefs may be an issue, please seek support from a respected spiritual leader whose guidance you can trust.

Researching your child’s diagnosis thoroughly will also help you to make an informed decision. The more you know about the difficulties you and your family face with a severe prenatal diagnosis, the better equipped you will be to handle the decision you need to make, no matter what that decision is.

You can find up-to-date information on specific conditions at The PPD (Poor Prenatal Diagnosis) website is dedicated to help parents decide in a time of crises how to proceed and where to turn for help and resources.

If you do decide that termination is the route you will take, we can help you find a local support group or counseling service that will help you through this extremely difficult time. We also have safe, private, discussion forums for those who are faced with a poor prenatal diagnosis.
